Blog #1: My Workplace
My internship is really peaceful, fun and educational. I am an intern at a school called North Oakland Community Charter School (NOCCS)This school goes from kindergarten-8th grade. I intern with a women name Krea Gomez, she teaches a class called CAL to middle schoolers, CAL stands for community action learning. This class really shows students how to make their community a better place and how to stand up for what they believe in. I also help my mentor run the student council at the school, and help with the after school program for the kindergarten kids. Being an intern requires me to use a lot of leadership skills. One of the leadership skill I am using for my WLE is collaborating productively. I have to use this skill if I am working with younger students, I have to be really willing to listen to what they have and take it into consideration. Although I use the leadership skill collaborating productively, my mentor mostly use the skill thinking critically. I think she uses this skill a lot because she has to come up with lesson plans and activity's for the children.
Blog #2: My Mentor
My mentor Krea Gomez is a great person with a big personality. She always has a busy day at work. A typical ay for her first prepping for all her students, hen she teaches CAL after CAL she goes straight into student council, after that works with the kindergarteners, than she ends her day working the after school program teaching a magic class. She is an amazing women she became interested in the teaching field because she always knew she had good information to share with others and one of the ways she wanted to share her knowledge was threw teaching and she loves children which is also one of the reason she decide to teach at kids school.
